Addictions: Drug and Alcohol

Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw County provides resources for those with addictions. Individual substance abuse counseling is provided for individuals struggling with moderate to serious drug and alcohol abuse issues. Using an intervention model, this outpatient treatment focuses on developing specific goals to enable clients to create a healthier and more productive lifestyle.

Options for treatment and support include local cities in and outside of Washtenaw County.

Grief and Loss

Feelings of grief after the loss of a loved one are normal but handling them can be difficult and painful. When you’re feeling overwhelmed, or when you just need someone to talk with, the Grief Care team through Angela Hospice in Livonia Michigan is there to help. Their social workers can help you understand and cope with the range of emotions that grief can bring.

They provide grief care for all ages of individuals on a one-on-one basis or in a support group. Services can be virtual or in-person.

My House Men’s Group confidentially helps men regain their sexual integrity through prayer, accountability, and encouragement. Meetings are held in the evening during the week for two hours. The place and time of the meeting is disclosed after initial contact with one of the group facilitators. This is a strictly confidential group and a confidentiality statement must be signed by all members.

Same Sex Attraction

Courage International is a Catholic organization that accompanies men and women who experience same-sex attractions and who have made a commitment to strive for chastity. They are inspired by the Gospel call to holiness and the Catholic Church’s beautiful teachings about the goodness and inherent purpose of human sexuality.

They provide pastoral support in the form of spiritual guidance, community prayer support, and fellowship.

Courage also offers support for those who have a loved one struggling with same-sex attraction called EnCourage. EnCourage helps individuals understand the experiences of their loved ones, and to respond to them with compassion. Pastoral support is provided in the form of spiritual guidance to grow in relationship with Christ and community support.
