Sera Alvaro Catena, a pure, kind, and gentle soul devoted to her family and to God, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Vittorio Catena, with whom she shared a beautiful 50-year marriage rooted in faith, simplicity, and unwavering love.

Sera lived with innocence and goodness, always seeing the best in everyone. She raised her children with the proverbs and wisdom passed down from the elders who shaped her, and she applied that wisdom to every challenge life presented. No matter the hardship, she faithfully said, “Thank you to God,” believing deeply in His mercy and glory.

She is survived by her three children: Antonio Catena, Francesca Recchia and her husband Davide Recchia, and Sabrina Camilleri and her husband Adriano Camilleri.

Sera was the cherished grandmother of Nicholas Recchia, Stefania Recchia, and Alessio Camilleri, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandpets, Stella Recchia and Gigi Camilleri, who adored her just as deeply as her grandchildren did.

Sera’s legacy is one of kindness, humility, and steadfast faith. Her gentle spirit and the love she poured into her family will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12th from 2 PM until 9 PM, with a Rosary service at 7 PM, at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (between Sheldon and Beck) Plymouth.

Sera will lie in state Friday, February 13th at 10 AM until the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road (at Beck) Plymouth.
