Mary Louise McNamara, aged 82, of Northville, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2024.
Born to Nicholas and Margaret Wambach in Detroit on June 26, 1941.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward, her siblings, Lillian, Robert, Ronald, her granddaughter, Mary Margaret, and her great-grandson, Peter.
She leaves behind a life rich with love and cherished memories, upheld by her family and all who knew her. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mary Lou's legacy includes her children, Maureen (Kenneth) Szczypka, Eileen (Brendan) Dunleavy, and Ann Marie (Gregory) McLaurin; her cherished grandchildren, Megan (Brandon), Erin (Justin), Alison (Dennis), Caitlin (Matthew), Edward (Kelly), Kathleen (Joel), Colleen (Jason), Brendan (Dana), Maura (Trevor), MaryGrace, Catherine (Colin), Caroline (Joaquin), and Colin. She is also cherished by her twenty-eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who carry on her memory.
Mary Lou graduated from St. Francis De Sales High School in Detroit and went on to become a successful real estate agent in metro Detroit.
Throughout her life, Mary Lou was an active member of several parishes including, St. Raphael, Church of the Divine Child, and Our Lady of Victory, and Our Lady Good Counsel. Her commitment to her Catholic faith was profound and unwavering, providing her with strength and comfort throughout her life.
In 1992, Mary Lou and Edward were honored as “Man and Woman of the Year” by the Irish Pallottine Fathers, a testament to her service and dedication to her community. Memorial contributions may be made to the Irish Pallottine Missionary Centre, 424 Orange St., Wyandotte, MI 48192, in honor of her devotion to her faith and heritage (www.irishpallottines.org).
Visitation will be held at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 West Ann Arbor Road, Plymouth, MI 48170 on Tuesday, April 23, from 2:00 to 9:00 PM with a Rosary service at 7:00 PM. Mary Lou will be In State on Wednesday, April 24, at Our Lady Good Counsel Parish, 47650 North Territorial Road, Plymouth, MI 48170 from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at 10:30 AM. She will be laid to rest at a private family burial at St. Michael Cemetery in Richmond, MI.
