John Joseph Byrne III, 82, of Plymouth, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025 after a long, arduous battle with ALS. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on September 3, 1942, John lived a life defined by devotion to his family, his faith, and his work.

John began his career as a pharmacist, later transitioning into pharmaceutical sales and management, and ultimately serving as an executive in pharmacy benefit management. He was admired for his professionalism, leadership, and unwavering commitment to improving healthcare systems.

Outside of work, John found joy in woodworking, caring for his cars, and spending time with friends and loved ones over card games, bowling nights, and rounds of golf. He was a devout Catholic whose faith guided him throughout his life.
John was deeply proud of his family and their accomplishments, often sharing stories of their successes with pride and joy. He is survived by his loving wife, Marleen Byrne (née Bowler); his son, John Joseph Byrne IV, and daughter-in-law, Kristin Byrne; and his grandchildren, Sarah Avendano (Jesse Avendano) and Justin Byrne (Tarah Thompson). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, James (the late Valerie) Byrne.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8th from 6 PM until 8 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (Between Sheldon and Beck) Plymouth.

John will lie in state on Tuesday, September 9th from 10 AM until the Tuesday 11 AM Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road (at Beck) Plymouth.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to ALS of Michigan, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by ALS throughout the state.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
